Our Family's Journey Through Time

Twenty-Seventh Annual Jones Reunion

The 27th Annual Jones Reunion was held at the home of David and Judy Jones in Quincy, Illinois on the 27th through the 28th of June, 1997. As with all of the past twenty-six hosts, we were treated royally and fed way too much. The weather was quite steamy so many flocked tot he shelter of the tents or to the pool to cool off a bit. Sight seeing was a big draw for may, but I doubt it could top the favorite--just sitting back and exchanging news from the past year with others.

The past year proved to be a very busy year for many. On February 27, 1997, weighing in at 7 lb and 9 oz and 20" long was Cody Robert Seggerman, con of Craig and Angela Seggerman. Great-grandparents are Fred and Betty Heidenreich. In March 1977 at 8 lb is yet another male addition to the Jones family: Takoa Peterson, son of Rhonda and Kurt Peterson and the proud great-grandfather is Donald Jones. Finally Lukas Tate Barber, son of Terry and WIll Barber, entered the world on Just 7, 1997 at 9 lb 2 oz and 21" long. Rollan Jones is the great-grandfather.

Rollan Jones and Kathy Wilkinson were married on April 30, 1997, and Jeff and Elvia Jones were married on April 20, 1996. Congratulations are heartily extended to these new members of our clan.

Michael and Casey Jones both shared a birthday on Sunday of the reunion which was celebrated by all with birthday cakes. The youngest attendee of the reunion this year was Cody Seggerman, and the most senior was Horace Hutchins. Following a serious operation in August of 1996, it was especially gratifying to enjoy his company this year.

Corrections to last year's minutes include the marriage of Diana and Mike McKenzie on March 21, 1996 and the birth of Matthew Dillon McKenzie on October 8, 1995. Donald Jones is the father and grandfather respectively.

A successful craft auction was held again this year and raised $616.25. David and Judy were reimbursed a total of $487.70 towards the cost of food and supplies. $475 was taken from the savings account along with $12.70 from the auction to pay their bill. That left a total of $603.55 to deposit into the reunion savings account. We are a generous bunch.

It was decided that the next reunion would be held the third week-end in June in Illinois with Tim and Linda Fornero as host and hostess. (There is nothing like hosting a reunion to get you to finish the odds and ends at home!!) They will keep us posted and information will be forwarded (hopefully to everyone) in a timely manner. Until next summer, so long.

Respectfully submitted,
