Our Family's Journey Through Time
The 15th Jones Family Reunion was held on April 21, 1984 which was also the 84th birthday of Elverda Emma Jones.
The party was held at the home of Horace and Vivian Hutchins at Lawrence, Michigan.
All seven of her children were present, plus 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The party was not only marked by a birthday cake, but also a downpour and wind storm, which knocked out the electricity for 10 to 12 hours or more. It was rather unusual on arriving back at the Hutchins residence to be greeted at the door with the statement, "I hope you took care of everything at the Motel, becaues we don't have any water."
I seems at times Hutchins can provide some unusual excitement. Needless to say even without electricity, everyone kept warm and had a good time.
There were 2 marriages since the "83" reunion.
Linda Lou Heidenreich, daughter of Fred and Betty Heidenreich of Flanagan, Ill and Timothy O. Fornero, son of Ray and Elisie Fornero of Pontiac, Illinois were married on September 24, 1983.
Sandra Marie (Hutchins) Sampsell, daughter of Horace and Vivian Hutchins of Lawrence, Michigan and Gary Merchant of Bloomington, Michigan were married December 17, 1983
At this time the 1985 reunion is tentatively set for North Carolina, at the home of Rollan and Marilyn Jones.
A beautiful dinner and birthday cake was enjoyed by all in spite of the weather. Grandma was remembered with many nice gifts, cards and visiting were enjoyed by everyone.
