Our Family's Journey Through Time
The reunion was held at Horace and Vivian Hutchins on June 17 and 18. Tents were set up with tables and cooking facilities ready for business. There were outdoor lavatories tastefully decorated by Pam of Lawrence.
We had hot dogs and hamburgers for Saturday lunch and afterwards most of the younger set played tug of war or other assorted games.
Chuck Brando and Kris Hutchins were united in marriage on May 20th, 1979 and Chuck proved himself a worthy member by initialiting a water filled balloon fight. Vivian Hutchins retaliated with a water gun.
Saturday night we enjoyed a good meal of turkey and roast beef and afterwards card games. Good conversation was also flowing. Unfortunately, everyone was greatly worried and concerned about David Heidenreich's condition. He was injured in a motorcycle accident along with Lauri Harris just before all the Heidenreich's were to leave for Michigan. To our great and heartfelt relief their condition greatly improved but their absence was greatly missed not to say also that it cut the number of people at the reunion in half.
There were two new babies since the last reunion. The first was Amanda Sampsell, daughter of Alam and Sandra Sampsell, Born February 19, 1978. The second was Erik Wayne Heidenreich, son of Tim and Marie Heidenreich, born October 27, 1978.
The weather up to now had been terrific, but Sunday was another story! Along with breakfast we got a thunderstorm that literally shook the tent. Horace Hutchins threw himself on a tent pole but that was absolutely no help. We all ended up on top of the picnic tables as the water ran under the tent, at a depth of one inch.
Vivian Hutchins measured the depth of the mud on the outside of the tent and was assisted to her feet by David Phillip Jones after he quit laughing.
We were undecided as to wether we should get on or under the picnic tables but were unable to reach a decision as the thunder and lighting drowned out the discussion.
A short business meeting was held and as no one could hear the minutes being read, they were approved.
The dues were discussed and it was voted to raise the dues to $20.00 per couple and $10.00 per single because of inflation. The next meeting was not decided on as it will be Mom and Dad Jones' 60th Anniversary. We then adjourned to the house to avoid drowning. Motion was made and passed to have two familes handle the reunion.
