March 06 1951 Letter Home From Rollan

3/6/51

Hi all

This is going to be just a note to let you know I got your letter and package. Thanks a million. I hope everyone is in tiptop shape as I am. I also want to tell you not to put Cpl on my letters any more but you will put Sgt on the from now on got that?

I’m leaving on a trip around the 16th of this mon (June). I’ll be gone for about 6 mon but I’ll write offten

over

I’m going to leave my civies with Donald and my radio too then I’ll send the rest of my stuff home.

I was hoping I could send you some money this Pay but I have to buy some gear to take alone [along]. I’m making more mistakes than any thing else.

If you want to get Don out you will have to get the Red Cross to wittness your hardship and maybe if you will write to the State Senator it will speed things up a lot. Then when your ready have Donald put in for a hard ship discharge. I think it will work but you have

to work through the red cross and get a letter from the Doc. If you ever get snowed let me know and maybe I can help or tell you what to do. Tell Butch I’ll send him a letter from Itly [Italy]. And don’t worry about me its just routine. And get right to work on Donald.

Well I’ll close for now and write more next time. Address if the same if you hurry.

Love
Sonny
