Larry Lee Snell Larry Lee Snell was born on March 27, 1938 in Morris, Illinois to Otto Bud and Ruth Snell. The family moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1945. In 1956 he graduated from Fife High School where he was a prominent member of both the football and basketball teams. He was very proud to have won the Basketball Inspirational Award for 1955-56. In 1956 Larry married, Leona Kamenzind, his high school sweetheart. They recently celebrated their 60th Anniversary. Larry spent 19 years working for Deluxe Check Printers in California, Oregon, Louisiana and Texas. While in Slidell, LA he became involved in the Slidell Bantam Baseball Association where he became President. In 1976 he was instrumental in getting a new complex built. In 1979 he left Deluxe to return home to Puyallup, WA to open his own print shop, L&L Printing in Puyallup. It was while he was home that he started his charity work. He didnt have much as a child and giving back became a big part of his life. He was an active member in the Jaycees, Elks, Lions and Rotary. He particularly enjoyed helping kids in need. After retirement, Larry and Leona enjoyed traveling and RVing. Their time spent in Africa, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and traveling by train across Canada, or just snowbirding in Yuma, Arizona were some of the best times. However his real joy came from his grandchildren. Whether it was chasing a ball in the backyard, attending a ball game, dance recital or just listening to all the grandkids laughing and telling stories, those were the times he was happiest. He will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his wife Leona; daughter Cindy (Danny) Lovelace; son Brian (Cindi) Snell; daughter Staci (Todd) Geiselman; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 PM, Friday, November 11, 2016. A celebration of Larrys life will be held in the Garden Chapel 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 12th with a reception to follow in the Celebration of Life Center Oak Room at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park. |
